Hollowkeep
Read aloud
A speaker button in the PDF reader (Library books included) reads the pages aloud with a choice of voices in English, German, French and Spanish and a speed control. It runs on your own device and works offline once a voice is downloaded; waits on Sebastian's go to deploy.
MoreOpen a PDF in Hollowkeep (or a book in the Library) and tap the speaker button: the page text is read aloud paragraph by paragraph, the sentence being read is highlighted and the PDF turns its pages along. Pick a language, a voice and a speed; there is a Try this voice button.
The voices run on your own device. Each voice is a one-time download of about 60 MB from this site, after which reading aloud also works without a connection. The book's text and the speech never leave your device and nothing is stored on the server.
Scanned PDFs without a text layer can't be read aloud yet.
